Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. will join the Kittay House Community Choir to sing praises of the Bronx as part of Bronx Week at an event at Kittay House Senior Apartments on May 20.

The Kittay Community Choir has composed a song about the “da boogey-down” borough of the Bronx.  This song will be performed not just for, but with, the Bronx Borough President. The members of the choir will award him with the title of first Honorary Member of the Kittay House Community Choir.

The event will also serve as thanks to the Bronx Borough President for providing funds for a state-of–the-art security system at Kittay House Senior Apartments.

Tenants are now provided with Personal Emergency Response System Safety Pendants pendants (familiar to many as the “I’ve fallen and can’t get up device) which link to a streamlined security system.  With a push of a button, the immediate response provides peace-of-mind for tenants, as well as for their family and friends.

These pendants are a Godsend! I knew Mom would love the active lifestyle when she moved into Kittay House and now I’m given the peace of mind of knowing that no matter when or where she is, she’s under a watchful eye, while maintaining her independence,” stated Bob Rubin, son of Kittay tenant Edith Rubin.

On May 20, Kittay House will unveil its new Bronx Wall of Fame commemorating people and places in the Bronx. The wall will feature a 50 x 65 inch Bronx Historical Society quilt map of the Bronx. Tenants will add their own photographs and memories to the wall in the days following this year’s Bronx Week celebration.

Bronx Week events range from a Hip Hop Block party to tours of the Bartow-Pell Mansion.  Here’s more information about Bronx Week
