Geriatric Career Development
Since 2006, Geriatrics Career Development (GCD) of The New Jewish Home has supported New York City youth from under-resourced schools in pursuit of careers in health care. GCD is training the next generation of high-quality, culturally competent health care professionals while generating excitement and enthusiasm for career opportunities in health care serving older adults.
Research Institute on Aging
The New Jewish Home is one of the few nonprofit geriatric healthcare systems in the country that has an established research institute. Our team is exploring ways to make eldercare more effective, both for older adults in New York and around the world. The Research Institute on Aging has a multidisciplinary research team consisting of physicians and psychologists.
Clinical Training for Professionals & Students
In 2018, 213 scholars pursued internships, practicums, and rotations for fellowships at The New Jewish Home. Ninety-nine of these Jewish Home Alumni were at the doctoral or fellowship level, 58 were enrolled in master’s programs, and 17 were pursuing bachelor degrees. Eight religious leaders worked towards their ordination as Rabbis and Ministers, or completed Clinical Pastoral Education training.

Employee Wellness
We know wellness is an important part of life and we’re all about elevating the health and wellbeing of our staff.
Our locations in Westchester and Manhattan have spacious gardens that provide a serene oasis for not only our residents and patients but staff as well. Many staff enjoy spending their lunch break in the gardens listing to the birds chirping and getting some vitamin D during the spring and summer months. In the winter time, the gardens transform to a winter wonderland under the fluffy layers of snow and this scenery brings much joy to all who witness it.
Both locations also offer on-site cafes where staff can enjoy some healthy and delicious food, snacks and beverages.
