The rehabilitation team at The New Jewish Home’s Sarah Neuman Westchester campus shines at helping clients get well and go home. Among the tools they use to achieve excellent results is a new gait trainer, the Rifton E-Pacer, which helps make rehabilitation safer and more effective for staff and patients.

This gait trainer is helpful as rehabilitation begins, especially with neurology patients experiencing hemiplegia (single-side weakness) who are not ready to transition to a walker.

Watch as our rehabilitation staff use the gait trainer to help a 62-year-old woman with a history of MS relearn how to walk. This patient had lumbar spine surgery due to spinal stenosis and a herniated disc. Her past medical history, along with this surgery, led to weakness in her legs. Thanks to our talented rehabilitation staff and the gait trainer, she’s on the road to recovery.
